IT relates to bakelite powder based on gangue modified phenolic resin and a preparation method thereof. The basic material of the bakelite powder comprises treated gangue powder and phenolic resin which are in a mass ratio of 4:6; and additives of the bakelite powder include nitrile rubber and wood flour, wherein the addition amount of nitrile rubber is 6-14wt% of the basic material and the addition amount of wood flour is 15-20wt% of the basic material. The preparation method comprises the following steps: crushing gangue with ash content being 50-60wt% and immobile carbon content being 15-25%, drying, cooling and ball-milling; then, soaking in coupling agent liquor, drying and cooling for later use; drying the wood flour, wherein the granularity of the wood flour is below 20 meshes; tearing nitrile rubber into small pieces with hands; fully mixing wood flour, nitrile rubber, and gangue as well as phenolic resin in proportion, cooling by a warm-up mill, cooling and crushing; then, screening to obtain a bakelite powder product. According to the bakelite powder prepared by the method, performance indexes of the bakelite powder are improved, the cost is lowered, the gangue waste is utilized, and the environmental pollution is reduced.
